Sex & Nudity
mildAfter the credits, the Moving Pictures studio logo depicts a young girl with her nude buttocks shown. Sex is discussed throughout the movie by the four teen girls, with terms such as "doing the deed" and giving a guy a "hard-on". A teenage girl expresses her belief that hippies are "sex fiends." A young woman in her thirties implies that she has had breast implants, saying that they were "worth every penny." A teenage girl in her bra measures her breasts and tapes them down. While four adult friends are talking, it is mentioned that one of them "lives in sin with her boyfriend." A man says to his girlfriend's 12-year-old daughter, "You're a looker too, just like your mommy." A group of boys--teenagers and younger--swim nude in a lake and are seen naked in both the front and back, in various shots. Most notably, they are seen running down a road with their back ends completely showing. A teen boy and girl kiss lightly and innocently. A teenage girl asks another teenage girl how big her boobs are, and then she asks to see them, to which the girl refuses. A mother teaches her teen daughter about sex by using flowers and a watering can as metaphors. The girl repeats what she has learned in a later scene with her friends. Tongue kissing is referenced. A teenage girl fills balloons up with pudding and puts them in her shirt to make them look like boobs. She says that men love it when girls have big breasts. A group of teen girls' ideas of foreplay are discussed, which include "making out" and "watching a sexy movie." A mother dresses somewhat provocatively (in short shorts and boots) and saunters down the street with her daughter and the daughter's friends watching.
Violence & Gore
mildA girl punches another girl in the face after she plays a sick joke on her. A teen boy and girl have a brief fist fight. The boy has a bloody nose afterward, which is shown. A woman is seen in labor. The woman delivering the baby reveals her bloody hands afterward, and the baby is not cleaned off before being handed to her mother, so it can be pretty gross to watch.
Profanity
mildOccasional language, insults, and sexual references usually spoken by teenage girls.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
mildA few smoking scenes, including a scene where a group of teenage girls smoke with an older man. At the beginning of the film, two women ask for Jack Daniels as a beverage, but then agree to get beer instead.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
mildThe mystery of a double murder involving a woman and her young son is one of the main themes of the movie. Two scenes of séances (attempting to talk with the dead) occur. A teen girl believes to see a figure of a ghost at her window. A group of teen girls shriek after a loud bird appears out of nowhere. A group of girls get their tarot cards read, and some of the cards reference murder. In one very intense scene on a dark, rainy night, a teen girl goes into a Storm Drain to retrieve something and almost dies from drowning. One girl opens up about her parents getting a divorce and cries with another one of her friends. This is a very emotional and heartwrenching scene. A girl breaks a mirror and throws some stuff around after learning about the death of a little boy and his mother. This scene is pretty intense. A teen girl uncovers the truth about her mother's death, which involved a car accident and being trapped in the car for a long time before a rescue was attempted. Four teen girls visit a graveyard after dark a few times during the movie. There are a lot of jumpy moments when the girls believe that they are seeing things. An old man rides around the cemetery on his bike. There's another shot of a tombstone cracked down the middle, and the kids believe that a body has come back to life, but it's eventually revealed that it was accidentally knocked over by a tractor. A girl jumps into a shallow lake, pretending to be dead, face-down in the water.
