BBFC Ratings info
MRS. DOUBTFIRE is a US comedy in which an actor who is estranged from his family dresses as a female housekeeper in order to be near his children. Sex: There are several moderate sex references when one character taunts another about the sexual favours he might be expecting from a woman. The character uses innuendo to refer to oral sex, masturbation and sex toys with comments including a reference to a 'going down payment' and 'a bit of the cunning linguists'. There are also comments about a woman possibly dressing like a 'harlot' or 'streetwalker'. Language: There is use of a middle finger gesture. Mild bad language includes uses of 'bitch', 'bloody', 'crap', 'piss', 'bastard', 'shit' and 'hell'. There are some scenes of comic slapstick as a character's fake foam breasts catch fire while they're cooking and the Heimlich manoeuvre is tried on a man to comic excess.

Sex & Nudity

mild

Mrs. Doubtfire asks the mom "on a scale from 1-10" satisfaction score on Daniel. Question that refers to in the bedroom. Mrs.Doubtfire says her "husband" couldn't satisfy her with foreplay. Mrs. Doubtfire, in an attempt to get Stu to dump Miranda tells him that he has to compete with Miranda's "power tool" (vibrator). Chances are kids will not pick up on this. While attempting to deter Miranda's boyfriend from getting intimate with her, Mrs. Doubtfire makes several innuendos (bring cocktail sauce 'cos she's got crabs, hide the weasel, Little Jack Horny.) Kids will likely not understand what they mean.

Violence & Gore

mild

While trying to make dinner for the family, Mrs. Doubtfire's fake breasts catch on fire. However, the flames are quickly extinguished and the scene is largely played for laughs. Stu is tormented by Mrs. Doubtfire and nearly chokes to death on a shrimp until Doubtfire saves him. A few grotesque scenes involving human-like faces being shaped with latex, including a rudder old woman mask getting run over by a truck. A man is hit on the head with a fruit. He is unhurt but there is a loud smack when it hits him. A woman hits animals with a broom. When Daniel says that he hopes his ex-wife hasn't come down with amoebic dysentery, his youngest daughter asks what it is and her older brother describes it in graphic detail, causing her to believe that dad "wants mommy to die". A robber tries to steal Mrs. Doubtfire's purse.

Profanity

moderate

When Mrs. Doubtfire peeks out the window to see that his wife is with another man, he gives him the middle finger. At least 15 uses of damn, 3 uses of goddamn 2 uses of shit and goddamn 1 use of asshole and bastard Several uses of hell. At least 2 uses of shit

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

mild

Daniel drinks a lot. Daniel and his friends drink at a dinner and they start getting close to drunk. Lab techs at a TV station smoke cigarettes. A cartoon bird is seen smoking a cigarette. Mrs. Doubtfire says he has medication that she can't take orally. Mrs. Doubtfire says that her husband was an alcoholic who was "killed by the drink, literally" after being squashed by a delivery truck from a Guinness bottling factory. mrs Doutfire and Stu are seen drinking alcohol.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

none

While the middle hour of the movie is comedic, the first 30 minutes and the last 15 minutes are quite serious in nature. The parents yell and fight in front of the kids, get a divorce, cry, go to court, fight for custody, etc. The scene were Daniel loses custody of his kids in court near the end of the film is very heartbreaking Mrs Doubtfire's iconic "HELLO" scene might be a little bit startling but it's meant to be played for laughs and not scary at all
