Although there are a number of disturbing and intense scenes, the general tone of the film is not violent or scary. The film can be very emotionally intense and upsetting. Caravaggio's interrogation and torture scene is very emotionally intense and upsetting. There are several intense scenes, everything though is fairly mild.
