Sex & Nudity

moderate

The film also contains references to monks bribing the same peasant girl with food in exchange for sexual favors, homosexual relationships between the monks, and accusations of characters having "intercourse with the devil". We see a naked man (no genitals are visible) on an autopsy table twice. A girl has her robes ripped open to reveil her breasts. The 4 minute sex scene between the young monk & peasant girl is rather intense featuring bare breasts and graphic shots of the girls naked buttocks. There is also a scene of naked male buttocks and pubic hair, as well as some explicit thrusting.

Violence & Gore

moderate

This film contains murder and torture scenes, though much of the violence takes place off camera. There is vivid depiction of the results of the murder and torture including blood, autopsy scenes, and an impaled body. There is also a depiction of a monk who catches on fire and of people being burned at the stake. There is a scene of animal slaughter that is very crude and upsetting.

Profanity

mild

This film contains mild profanity ... bitch, hell, damn.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

none

No depiction and/or discussion of drinking, smoking, drugs, etc. etc.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

moderate

This film contains a number of bloody scenes and the plot is very dark and intricate. The scenes are mostly in dark places. The film does contain frightening/intense scenes ... burning heretics at the stake, murder, discovery of dead bodies, autopsy, etc. etc.
